All Pre-K parents for drop-off should park at Manion Park and walk their children through the West door near the Gymnasium and take them to their classrooms. The West doors will open at 8:15 for morning drop-off.
All Kindergarten students and their older siblings are to be dropped off at the West door looped driveway. (Kindergartners may be walked into the building to their classrooms the first week of school; starting the second week they will be assisted by staff members)
All other students are to be dropped off at the furthest South East corner and walk to the East door.
When dropping off children please drive your vehicle all the way forward to poles #1, #2, and #3. If there is a back log, you may drop off your student once you’ve passed the main crosswalk. DO NOT drop off your student in or before the main crosswalk.
If you are choosing to walk your students inside, do not cut across the driveway/street. Please model good safety behaviors by using the crosswalk.
The South lot will be used for buses and visitor parking; as well as student morning activities (such as strings, run club etc.).
When entering and exiting the neighborhoods, parking lots, and streets, please drive slowly. The posted speed limit is 25 mph.
Building entry time schedule:
7:00 – 8:20 Students enrolled in “Before Care” will need to enter through East door
8:10 Students not enrolled in “Before Care” but eating cafeteria breakfast must enter through the East doors. They may eat in the cafeteria or take their “Grab and Go Breakfast” to their classroom if running late. Students must be in classroom by 8:30 when the tardy bell rings.
ALL STUDENTS AT EISENHOWER MAY RECEIVE A FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH THIS YEAR. Please let the cafeteria office know if your student will be eating breakfast daily at EIS this year. It will help us to prepare for the day.
8:15 West door opened for all Pre-K, Kindergarten, and their older siblings. Students go directly to classrooms.
8:15 East door opened for all First – Fifth grade students without a Pre-K or Kindergarten sibling. Students go directly to classrooms.
8:30-8:45 Students will go to the cafeteria and take a bagged “grab and go” breakfast to their classroom to eat. Breakfast closes at 8:45.
8:15 – 3:35 Building entry expectations
If a child arrives to school after 8:30, you will need to park in the South parking lot and sign them in at the front office as tardy.
We certainly welcome parents to volunteer in our classrooms however we’re asking you to wait until after 8:45 and to come before 3:00. When visiting school during these times, you will need to park and come in through the South entrance. This strict requirement allows all visitors to be properly and safely monitored through the office. Unfortunately safety is not always convenient. It is expected that parents will not use the hallways and foyers as a place to mingle; however we have created new spaces that allow people to gather. There are picnic tables now on the grounds near the south entry and the southeast corner of building on the East lot. We also have added them to the Kindergarten/Pre K areas or in the beautiful Life Lab. Inside we have café tables across from the office and in our new Kindergarten/Pre K community area near library services. Please enjoy!
Purposeful parent involvement and participation is needed and welcomed. However these requirements will be enforced to effectively reach desired safety and instruction. We truly appreciate your understanding in this effort to keep your child and all students and staff at Eisenhower safe.
If you desire to conference with your child’s teacher, it is imperative that you schedule your conference at least a day ahead. This will allow the teacher to be available at a time that is least disruptive to the entire classroom. We are extremely grateful for your understanding of our desire to allow the teacher the greatest amount of time to educate our students.
8:30 – 3:35 - School is in session – All doors locked – Any late students or early dismissals must enter through the South Door (front) – Visiting parents or volunteers must use South Door (front) Never prop a door open or place something in the threshold to prevent the door from closing. This allows intruders a possible access point. Safety is paramount.
Car Pick-up Procedures
Do not park your car on 56th Street or in the pickup/drop-off lines and walk-in to pick-up your children.
All Pre-K parents for pick-up should park at Manion Park and walk into the building via the West doors near the Gymnasium. All Pre-K students will be released from their classrooms to parents/caregivers. Children will only be released to people listed on the “My Way Home” form. Siblings of pre-kindergarten students will be picked up from the pre-kindergarten rooms as well. They may be picked up at 3:35.
All Kindergarten students and their older siblings are to be picked up at the West door looped driveway. It is extremely important for the speed of getting students prepared to be picked up and therefore speeding up the flow of traffic that you place your pick-up placard on your dashboard. This colored placard will help teachers locate vehicles that involve their grade level.
While waiting, your vehicle needs to be as close to the curb on 56th Street as possible so cars and buses can pass in both directions.
While waiting, do not block the entrances/exits to parking lots along 56th Street. There must be enough room for buses and vehicles to enter and exit the south looped parking lot/driveway.
Kindergarten parents may also choose to not use the kinder car loop, but they must park at Manion Park and walk over to the designated place on the Kinder playground on non-inclement weather days. Teachers will be located in specific locations around the rubber equipment mat. Students will remain seated until the teacher confirms with the parent/caregiver which child is needed. NO STUDENTS OR SIBLINGS WILL BE ON THE PLAYGROUND EQUIPEMENT DURING DISMISSAL UNTIL AFTER 3:45PM. It is confusing to kindergarten students to stay seated when they see others playing on the equipment. Parents do not encourage your student to walk to you or leave the safety of their teacher without the teacher’s acknowledgement. The teacher must confirm who the student is leaving with and that they are approved caregiver’s. Siblings will also be seated with the appropriate kindergarten teacher.
If we are having inclement weather, teachers will release at the inside hallway door – one at a time. Please be patient we know it is slower.
Car riders – Please follow the loop and give the person on duty your child’s name and teacher’s name. It is helpful and keeps things moving.
All other students will be picked up at the #1, #2, #3 poles on the Southeast driveway.
It is extremely important for the speed of getting students prepared to be picked up, and therefore speeding up the flow of traffic, that you place your pick-up placard on your dashboard. This colored placard will help teachers locate vehicles that involve their grade level.
If you are choosing to pick-up your child outside, do not cut across the driveway. Please model good safety behaviors by using the crosswalk. Also, do not use the sidewalk near poles #1, #2, and #3 at the pick-up lane because it is needed to quickly and safely move children to the needed locations to be picked up. Please enter and exit on the lawn area.
When entering and exiting the neighborhoods, parking lots, and streets, please drive slowly. The posted speed limit is 25 mph. Never leave an operating vehicle unattended and please do not park backwards on the wrong side of 56th street; nor in the driveway entries and exits. This is illegal and you can be ticketed.
**Thank you for adhering to these drop-off and pick-up procedures. We want our school day to begin and end smoothly!**
